Joshuara Mejia-Moreno '24

My name is Joshuara Mejia-Moreno, and I was the Senior Class President of the graduating Class of 2024. I had many roles at Sacred Heart, including Comet Crazies Spirit Club President, Sacred Heart Ambassador, Praise Night Senior Class Representative, and the first-ever Senior Team Leader for the E.L.E.V.A.T.E. Initiative. I enjoyed developing relationships with my peers and mentors, coaches, and teachers at Sacred Heart.

Although I’ve learned many valuable lessons, the most impactful ones were through the E.L.E.V.A.T.E. Initiative. The end goal for my leadership was to be like some of the previous leaders of my school that I had looked up to. With the guidance of the Elevate team, I became like those leaders and more. Although initially uncertain about my position as Senior Team Leader, it helped me discover that I empowered others and was trustworthy. This commitment as Senior Team Leader and Senior Class President has led me to believe what I think is most important: The respect of greatly respected people. Acknowledging that people from my school and outside of my school respect me for my hard work and qualities has earned me a backbone for my future. I had a wonderful time growing up at Sacred Heart. Being one of the top leaders at Sacred Heart was something that I only thought my peers could do. I went into it with hesitation and discovered my love for leadership.
