Showcase

Showcase

We welcome all alumnae, family, and friends of Sacred Heart to join us as we celebrate our filmmakers, poets, singers, dancers, and artists at the Sacred HeART Showcase on Saturday, May 18th, from 12-3pm. There is a preview for students on Friday, May 17th at 5:30pm. Students who are interested in viewing the exhibit on Friday must register for Praise Night here.

We are pleased to announce that we are having our Sacred HeART Showcase this upcoming weekend. The showcase is collaboration across our Arts Department classes and student led clubs. It provides an opportunity to celebrate the diligent and creative work that our students have been accomplishing this year in filmmaking, poetry, performing arts, and visual arts. We are proud of our Comets’ creativity and we are even more eager to share it with our community.

The main event on Saturday will include a variety of art forms. We will have a special film screening of video projects created by students in Ms. Gonzalez’s Film History class. The films include flip book animation and stop motion animation mini-movies. We will end our event with performances of select songs from the 1978 classic Grease by students in the Performing Arts Club, who have been mentored by Mr. Stickland, Ms. Moreno-Lara, and Ms. DeSantiago. The performance will begin promptly at 2:00pm, so be sure to find a seat and be ready to enjoy the show.

You are invited to view several displays of creative work before and after the performances. Enjoy our poetry exhibit featuring original compositions written by students in Ms. Hernandez’s 11th grade literature class. Many of the poetic works are accompanied by visual expressions.

The art exhibits will feature creative work from Ms. DeSantiago’s science classes (Marine Biology and Anatomy/ Physiology) as well as Ms. Ruiz and Mr. Daniel’s art classes, Comet Creatives Art Club, and student artists in our SHHS community.

We are so enthusiastic for you to join us at this year’s multidisciplinary celebration, especially as we witness the continuous growth of our creative community. Last year we had a smaller exhibit at the school library featuring artworks from art classes and Comet Creatives Art Club, while this year we had the blessing to expand to collaborate across disciplines and opened up for the whole school to submit artwork. Like last year, we will recognize students who have shown determination and diligence in their creative endeavors throughout the school year.
